The VP Actuary, Pricing is responsible for leading a team of technical professionals engaged in rate adequacy, portfolio and profitability analysis, econometrics and forecasting, and the annual Personal Insurance plan. In this capacity, the position and team supports the achievement of profit, expense and business objectives of Personal Insurance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of experienced pricing professionals and analysts.
- Create and drive change around new techniques, approaches, and processes.
- Identify and assess key trends in business, industry and competitors and communicate effectively across organization.
- Significant interaction and collaboration with other stakeholders.
- Ability to leverage business knowledge to set strategies and approaches to execution.
- Profitability Analysis
- Provide technical leadership to the team. Translate high-level business needs into appropriate analysis to deliver actionable results on a tight time frame.
- Secure sponsorship/support for high potential pay-off projects.
- Manage multiple projects and all phases of a project.
- Assist in implementation of results of analysis. Assistance to include working with internal support staff (e.g., technology staff, business centers, product management unit, etc.) to ensure results are available to the end user.
- Active partnership with Product Management in helping explain and incorporate the pricing analysis into their decision making.
Key Competencies:
- Previous leadership experience required.

- Experience in conducting or managing predictive modeling preferred.

- Expert knowledge of actuarial concepts.
- Knowledge of personal lines products preferred.
- Strong understanding of actuarial and other insurance related models (i.e. property CAT and ROE models) a plus.
- Strong sense of urgency in meeting deadlines
- Sound understanding of financial reporting, income statements and balance sheets.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a mathematical discipline.
- ACAS or FCAS designation is a plus.
- Significant prior leadership experience required.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience.
