Our client is an up and coming automotive subprime lending company, providing financing to both franchised and independent auto dealerships throughout the United States.  They are an entrepreneurial company that is in a high growth phase and have a unique focus on analytics as part of their business strategy.  There is great opportunity for professional growth as they continue their expansion into new geographic markets and new product offerings.

They are searching for a Vice President of Portfolio and Servicing Analytics to shape and drive portfolio and collections strategic analytic initiatives to drive down losses and delinquencies, produce reliable forecasts, and characterize key risk profile and performance aspects of the portfolio, contributing solidly to a well-managed and profitable auto business.

Primary Duties:

·         Portfolio Analytics:

o        Design and guide development of fundamental portfolio metrics, dashboards, and reports

o        Analytically study and characterize portfolio risk profile trends over time

o        Analyze and ascertain the impacts to the portfolio of originations decision changes and collections operational procedures

o        Compare and benchmark the portfolio to competitors along key dimensions

o        Conduct portfolio variance and stress studies and impacts of exogenous factors

o        Communicate, convey, present, and field questions from internal and external parties regarding the risk profile and performance over time of the portfolio

·         Loss Forecasting:

o        Develop and advance loss forecasting frameworks and modeling methodologies for unit and dollar losses, recoveries, prepayments, and delinquencies

o        Own the production, review, presentation, and approval of loss forecasts and work with Finance to integrate into the financial plan

o        Incorporate data sources including competitor data and benchmarks

·         Collections:

o        Lead key initiatives to lower losses, delinquency, and roll-rates through data-driven analytic insights, tool sets, tests, and behavior modeling

o        Serve as an excellent partner to collections operational managers, gaining a strong working knowledge of collections and servicing operational procedures, decision-points, and work-flows and expertly integrating analytics into operational processes

o        Build and continuously improve key metric reporting, dashboards, and monitoring practices to ascertain and monitor collector effectiveness (ACR’s, contacts, RPC’s, promises, payments, extension grants, roll-rates) and asset remarketing performance

o        Lead analytic tool invention, design, development and implementation in operational activities such as contact strategy, payment plans, extension grants, and staffing and incentive models

Education:

Bachelors or higher degree in financial analytics, statistics, engineering, operations research, economics, or similar quantitative discipline; advanced degree preferred

Required Qualifications/Skillsets:

·         7+ years total experience in two or more of the following:

o        Functionally owning and managing the loss forecasting function for one or more lending institutions

o        Functionally owning and managing the statistical modeling and data analytic function supporting loan collections, including development of key metrics, dashboards, and reporting, and developing analytic-driven rule sets and behavioral models applied to operational collection treatments to drive down losses and delinquencies and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of collector activities

o        Functionally owning and managing front-end originations credit policy development, credit risk management and governance, and origination vintage performance

·         Thoroughly understands lending products and the economics of the lending business, credit risk management practices, ops costs, and what drives returns

·         Able to manage performance and hands-on guide and mentor junior and senior-level analysts, reviewing analysis, code, and contributing ideas and conceptual thinking to drive insights, advances and innovation

·         Excellent presentation skills and ability to clearly convey analytical findings and implications for the business, risk concepts, and propose actions and influence and drive positive change

·         Results focused, strategically and operationally minded, highly collaborative, valuing the perspective of others

Preferred Qualifications:

·         3+ years experience in subprime auto lending in one of the management functions mentioned above

·         2+ years experience hands-on producing loss forecasts, pulling and inspecting the required data, conducting the forecast methodologies

·         2+ years experience in a lending business analytics role pulling data and analyzing loan-level performance within an originations or collections analytics context

·         Advanced degree

·         Well versed in SQL and other programming languages such as SAS, Python
