Be responsible for the analysis and interpretation of multi-dimensional data utilizing the advanced statistics, simulation and maps. In a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment, this individual will develop location and planning strategies across the business.

The Research Scientist will be responsible for the analysis and interpretation of multi-dimensional data utilizing the advanced statistics, simulation and maps. In a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment, this individual will develop location and planning strategies across the business. The Scientist will be integral in creating valuable insights into network planning, brand value analysis and competitor impact analysis. This individual must be able to present the results/findings bother internally and externally through reports, charts, tables and slide presentations using established statistical methods as are appropriate to the objectives.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

• Develop and apply knowledge of statistical techniques to determine the appropriate statistical method(s) to use, given the data set and requirements- analyze/interpret data and present results using these statistical methods.

• With limited guidance, design, execute, analyze and interpret planning experiments to understand the market elements and communicate the results to the business units.

• Develop scientific metrics, analytics and insights generators to assess location and service offers, improve brand value, understand market competitiveness and forecast sales.

• Document key planning strategies and analyze and track progress on strategic planning decisions.

• Develop simulation scenarios for the market studies supplemented with maps.

• Identify a potential business problem, or take a business problem originated by others, and create a solution that allows repeatable analysis and potential product of the solution.

• Report analysis and results to Senior Research Scientist.

• Actively participate in project meetings by offering feedback on assigned tasks and gather additional information from internal members linked to the analysis project.

• Work with product development to assist them in implementing models in production ready tools and services.

• Collaborate with developments team to create a single integrated library in intellectual property with appropriate management processes.

• Increase skills on a continuous basis to remain current with new processes, methodologies and techniques.

• Communicate with international regional office personnel during non-business hours as required.

Requirements:
These requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities necessary to perform this job successfully.

• Master's degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics or a related engineering/science degree I required. A PhD in a related field in a plus.

• One to three years of practical mathematical and statistical analysis work experience in a business is required.

• Individual must have experience with the following:

o High proficiency in statistical methods including frequency analysis, correlation analysis, t-tests, ANOVA, Chi-Square tests, regression, linear models, mathematical modeling and spatial analytics.

o High proficiency in statistical concepts including: hypothesis testing, significance (p-values), variance, independence, normalizing data, residual error, model fit and transformations.

o High proficiency in programming with a scientific software language - preferably R or Python with packages stats, e1071, ggplot, Rgooglemaps, ggmap, shiny or similar.

o Experience in programming with SQL and using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.

o Strong Microsoft Office products skills, especially Excel and Access. PowerPoint is desirable.

o Demonstrate a good level of creativity in design of solutions.

o Ability to review and suggest new and enhanced modeling methodologies to meet future business requirements.

o Motivated to learn new mathematical skills and techniques.

o Self-driven - ability to lead oneself on a daily basis.

o Demonstrate a strong desire to work in a team environment, share knowledge and help facilitate the sharing of knowledge between peers.

o Ability to understand the business domain and engage with non-technical staff and clients.

o Able to present material in both a technical and non-technical fashion as appropriate to the audience.

o Ability to communicate with others within the department and company in both written and oral format.

• Limited travel may be required to attend necessary and appropriate seminars and interact with peers and line manager.

• Tight developmental timelines may require occasional overtime during peak development periods.
