Our client is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Research Statistician in its Predictive Analytics team.  This position is part of the a department, whose mission is to extend knowledge, derive insights, and supports a strategic framework to promote innovation, balanced decision-making, and coordinated action across the corporation.

The Predictive Analytics team develops modern analytical solutions for business problems across the organization. The team is comprised of talented professionals from different backgrounds who perform quantitative research as well as solution development for production applications. As a Research Statistician, you will develop, interpret, & implement statistical modeling & data mining techniques for product lines.

Responsibilities:

  • Engages in the development, interpretation, implementation and support of several different types of statistical modeling and data mining techniques.

 

  • Serves as a skilled consultant/researcher on important operational and tactical issues

 

  • Consults with clients on the use of mathematical statistics, assessing modeling needs and defining project scope.

  • Applies programming skills to make use of computer intensive analysis techniques.

  • Uses knowledge of business areas and research skills to address a diverse range of real-world business issues and to solve business problems.

  • Assists on projects/requests on routine statistical research issues and studies.

     

  • Independently extracts and transforms data for use in analysis.

  • Works with increasing autonomy on requests/projects/problems of complex statistical issues and studies.

  • Uses knowledge and experience with statistical techniques to specify parameters of modeling project or analysis.

  • Consults on financial services and insurance-related business, regulatory and public policy issues or organizational and human performance issues or consumer behavior issues.

  • Engages in the development, interpretation, implementation and suport of several different types of statistical modeling and data mining teshniques.

  • Accumulates and develops databases to be used for analytic development.

  • Provides critical interpretation of findings.

  • Coordinates activities with other members of the project team.

  • Develops strategies and methodologies to validate model performance following implementation.

 

Requirements:

  • M.S. or above in quantitative discipline with experience in Data Mining, Mathematical Statistics, & Statistical Modeling.

 

  • Experience in creating statistical models in one of the following subject areas preferred:
    - P/C Insurance Risk
    - Claims Automation
    - Bank Decisioning

 

  • Knowledge of and experience with at least one major computer programming language, or advanced syntax in a major statistical package.

  • Occasional travel may be required (2-3 times a year, typically for trade conferences)
