As a key contributor to the Analytics Team, the Statistical Modeler will be focused on advanced statistical modeling construction, translating model predictions into decisions rule-sets, and implementing, testing and monitoring models and model output.

·         Perform advanced statistical model construction and validation activities, including models used to make origination and pricing decisions, collection intensity decisions, and to produce loss forecast projections.

·         Work closely with business and operations analysts to translate model predictions and scores into decision rule-sets expertly integrated into the operational workflow and scoring systems.

·         Assist in the implementation and testing of models coded into production.

·         Perform statistical model monitoring activities to assess the stability and performance of models in production.

·         Help design credit attribute catalogs working with underwriters and lending domain experts.

·         Assist in experimental test design to shape efficient, readable tests to drive the test and learn cycle over time.

·         Use multivariate and data-mining techniques to discover insights, cause and effects, and discern signal from noise in a highly multivariate, treatment-censored data environment.

·         Evaluate the value of external data sources through proof of concept retro-tests.

·         Advance  modeling methodologies and standardized, effective and efficient modeling tools and code bases.

·         Help analysts get the most out of data sets and sample sizes, working to develop tools, training, and case studies that advance the analytic capabilities.

Required Qualifications/Skillsets:

  • 2+ years business experience in a full time hands-on statistical model construction role with a solid track record of implementing highly predictive models into a production environment.
  • Very well experienced in standard modeling techniques such as OLS and logistic regression, with a good working knowledge of alternative model forms and algorithms such as CART, random forests and the like.
  • Able to identify and articulate modifications to modeling procedures, sample designs, and model performance assumptions drawn from working with real-world, highly censored data.
  • Excellent coding skills in SQL and SAS/R and well equipped to extract and manipulate large data sets.
  • Excellent problem solving and integrative thinking, and open minded to the analytical views of others.
  • Able to comfortably function in both theoretical and practical statistical domains, conducting research while driving practical results that positively impact business results.
  • Able to communicate rationale for artistic choices made within the modeling process, as well as modeling results and precautions.
